In a recent note someone referred to this as a cultural war.

I made a note of it, it intrigued me so much. I didn't want to forget the
comment.

However they may not have been the first (nor may be the last) to use it. I
was watching a TV show and afterwards just flipped to what turned out to be
the 700 Club, but all I saw was a BSA graphic, so I hung around a while. Once
again, it was refered to as a "cultural war". Again our "protectors" who we
never asked to protect us with their "right-wing" website were the people
brought forward to speak for the Boy Scouts and AGAIN, it was called a
"cultural war".

So again, I tell you, if you're here for the *youth*, positive press on the
program is what is needed, not verbal warfare. Showing the CO's and
communities what the YOUTH are doing, preferably told by the youth. Releases
about what you do for your CO in the CO's newsletter. Build our base of
support.

I also visited the Lambda site and found it was terribly incorrect in some
details, such as some of those companies listed as not continuing with BSA
funding are, others never did as a corporate decision some time in the past
but that statement is being used as a claim to fame by the group. Ditto for
the UW programs, some dropped BSA funding some time ago. Ditto for the
cities, Chicago and San Diego made the decision to move Scouting out of
public buildings quite some time ago (we're talking a few years before this
case even started) and I don't remember the others, but I suspect it may be
the case for many of them.

Such action is their loss. These cities and agencies are acting in a way that
removes its youth even further from the government that claims it wants to
provide them with good, wholesome programs to keep them from getting into
trouble. Let those youth and the governments that drop us know what they are
losing.
