I agree whole heartily with Tom's statement. No matter what side of the
discussion you may be on, I still believe in Scouting. I have discussed my
beliefs with several gay friends and they understand and accept them. The
same way I accept their decisions. I may not agree with them but I accept
them.

I have read all of the articles I can find aobut the BSA recently. They
seem more to be a a propaganda campaign than reporting of the news.
"Companies are doing" yet no company names are mentioned. "Support is
being withdrawn" yet again, no names.

It is time we do more then argue here. Let this be a gentle call to Arms to
remind your community of friends about the rest of Scouting.

Scouting has adopted Leave No Trace as its national camping and wildernes
standard.
Review the number of Eagle Scouts entering the 4 military academys and what
that provides out nation.
Don't be afraid to quote the Oath and Law when presented with the
opportunity. What does Scouting do, it teaches youth........

If you can roll out the press machines. If you are on this list, ten
minutes of work can create a press email list that you can use to send press
releases to your local paper.

Scouting may not be perfect. Neither am I. I would never think of shooting
myself because of my imperfections. I would not chop off my arm if it did
not respond the way I wanted it to respond. Scouting will not change. I
might, but I doubt it based on past performance.

But Scouting is a great program. Scouting is a great organization.
Scouting made me, helped mold me and gave me a moral compass which I follow
to this day. Scouting provided me with hobbies, interests and most
importantly memories. Scouting each day renews old friendships.

Get the word out, Scouting is still a great program. Let others worry/argue
about the change, let's concentrate on the youth of the today.

Jim
