Fire isn't our problem here in the Northeast, water is. We've had 30-40%
or more rain than average and it's raining again as I write this. One
business here in the Albany area crashed down the hill when the saturated
ground let go a couple of months ago; now they're moving our 48-inch diameter
main water line that's in the same valley and in danger of being broken by
further slides. That slide also closed one of the major local roads (it's
still closed), and the radio stations are reporting some roads under water
again today.
