Please forgive the cross-posting, but I want to make sure this gets a
wide-spread distribution. If you see this multiple times, forgive me.
====================================================
To those who have been unsuccessfully trying to access the USSSP website
recently, I have some short, but hopefully not long lasting, bad news.
As some of us have mentioned over the past few weeks, we are in the
process of replacing our old, outdated server with a new machine.
Unfortunately, the old machine has apparently "given up the ghost", and
the http service is no longer working. Our website is not online at the
moment.
I have heard that the new server has arrived at our host location and is
ready to install, but our host service has not yet put it online due to
other pressing business.
The new server will have a number of new IP addresses, and MANY new
features, including a search engine. The IP numbers must be entered
into a Domain Name Server, and the new machine connected, before we will
have the site back on-line. Then it may take a few days for Domain Name
Servers around the net to update their records to point to the new
addresses.
Hopefully, those actions will be accomplished soon, and we'll be back on
line. Until then, please bear with us, and keep trying to connect, and
watch here for an announcement of our return.
Until we come back on line, if you have questions on advancement, or
if you need a copy of any specific page from the merit badge,
advancement, or safety areas of the USSSP, feel free to write me
directly, and I'll try to forward them as quickly as I can, from my
backup copy here at home.
For other questions that you would normally use our suggestion/question
box, I suggest you post to one of these lists, and I'm sure someone will
be able to help.
On behalf of all the USSSP Board, Officers, and all of our contributors,
thanks for your patience and understanding.
