That sounds more reasonable than the original message which seemed to indicate
that all adult campers had to go through the new training.
While the conferences offered at the Philmont Training Center are generally of
high quality, there are instances when the information presented never pans
out.
Personally, I don't give a great deal of consideration to "announcements" made
during PTC conferences until they are actually rolled out to the councils and
disseminated down to the unit level. I think the BSA sometimes uses PTC
conferences as a "sounding board" to gauge the reaction of volunteers to
potential changes. The upcoming "changes" are a year or more from being
implemented, and there is plenty of time for them to be altered or eliminated
altogether.
