Hi Laura, et al,
Gosh....we take so much stuff to keep scouts learning and doing new stuff.
We pack chests of craft work...bead looms, leatherwork, we carve Native
American flutes, we usually take a log and carve a totem pole (takes all
ten days!)...we make OA and Micosay costumes, we take a five-mile hike to
Iconium for Peach Nehii Floats....we go looking for Vulture feathers in
Blaylock Hollow, we make moccasins, we take 4-5 old beat up guitars (from
garage sales) and let the boys learn the basics, we take harmonicas, we
take recorders, we make a drum or two with hollow logs chiseled out and
stretched with rawhide, we carve desk plates for our moms and dads, we
carve sailboats and have a regatta (for prizes!) in the creek behind our
campsite, we do blacksmithing (yep, we take a forge!), we teach tipi
ettiquette and how to make bannock......shoooooooot!....the list is
endless! Our problem is usually that we can't get to everything in our
nine-day camp!
BLUE SKIES!, Any day above ground is a good day!
