In our Cub Scout Pack we use the progress toward ranks
badge.
Since the boys have not completed and are not awarded
the Wolf & Bear badges until the middle to end of spring
at the Pack meetings between Sept and April we award a bead
and explain that the boys are working towards the badge and
these are the progress they have made. When they do receive
the Wolf/Bear badge it makes it more special.
Plus, if any boys get the Bobcat badge or Webelos get any
achievement badges at the pack meeting they don't feel
left out.
