Phil,
I read it as well. I did so at a bookstore, not subscribing to the publication
myself, and being too cheap to purchase it ;-) I wonder who the audience is
for Rolling Stone, and how many Scouting families read it?
I found the article one sided. It seemed like he started out with an
assumption (that the BSA had a bigoted policy on homosexuals inflicted
upon the organization by a professional staff and overbearing church
sponsors) and then proceeded to try to prove it. The stats and info he presented
were all factual, but seemed to be presented at appropriate times
in his article to bolster his assumption. At the end of the article
he leaves the reader with the hope that the new CSE will be open to
change. As a political opinion article, it was an excellent case
for the people wanting to change the homosexual policy. As an
objective, news piece (I don't know if that is what it was intended to be),
it left a lot to be desired.
I wish the BSA had better public relations ...
