One can still go BEHIND a tent to change, as was done at my son's Philmont
trek which included two females (one adult, one teen) last summer.

Peeing on rocks IS accepted as part of LNT, because the animals can lick up
the residual salts without diggin into bark or shrubbery. This is the same
reason for not peeing in the latrines at Philmont. However, this was not the
venue being discussed in Pam's original post-- she was being told that the
boys wanted to "pee on trees" at camp. Of course, they shouldn't do that
anyway (LNT), and at camp there is a latrine for their use.

No reason why you can't accommodate both-- which was, I believe, the point of
the original thread. Sex/gender is no reason to disqualify persons for
leadership in Scouting.
