Review of the Scout Association's Identity
Periodically, every organisation needs to stand back and review how it
presents itself to the world in terms of image and identity. Scouting is
no exception and we are currently looking at a great many aspects of our
Movement ranging from the programme we deliver to young people to the
uniform we wear and the way Headquarters operates to support the work of
Scout Groups and our volunteer Leaders and administrators.
As part of this process, we are taking a long hard look at our logo and
other corporate identity elements such as the devices used on the heading
of the letters we send out from Headquarters.
We are not talking about the World Membership Badge proudly worn by many
on the uniform. We are referring to the Scout Logo and the Scout Badge
which you can see used (and sometimes misused) on everything from
minibuses to Scout buildings and on the posters and other paperwork we
produce.
Working with a team of professional designers, we seek to produce new,
modern devices which will present a fresh look whilst preserving the
instantly recognisable elements of the Scout identity that gives us one of
the world's strongest 'brand images'.
We need your views. Please take 20 minutes or so to complete the
questionnaire which can be found at:-
www.scoutbase.org.uk/
Click on the icon 'Research on Identity Questionnaire towards the top left
hand corner of the ScoutBaseUK homepage at this address.
We can not start the process until we have examined how we are currently
perceived. We especially need to gauge the opinions of the people who work
with the Association and make it what it is today - you.
Thank you in anticipation.
Yours sincerely,
Jane Gizbert
Communications Director
