I think that the boys do need to learn from the men of the troop what it is
to be a man. The boys at that age need to have time away from Mom. I also
think that a Scoutmaster should be a man. I however have three wonderful
woman who choose to take on a tremendous responsibility in Scouting. One just
stepped down from a long run as the Pack's CC and she held the Secretary's
job for the Troop Committee at the same time, the second is a Den Leader and
a Troop Committee member at the same time, the third is Cubmaster of our Pack
and also a Troop Committee member. The husbands do not participate at all but
these women go the extra mile. I am proud to have these woman helping out.
They are all three very active in our Troop. On the other hand, we also have
a male Den Leader in our Pack who is very good at his job. JM
