I got back from my council's camp (Makajawan in Northern Wisconsin) 3 hours
ago and am now answering my email. I had the privilege of being one of 6
adult leaders of a week long JLT called Brownsea. It is the most
extraordinary experience of my Scouting career. This is, in fact, the 4th
year I have participated. It is extraordinary because there are 20 Scouts on
staff to teach 84 younger scouts in JLT. It is a wonderful opportunity to
see real Scouting in action. These guys are the cream of the crop. They
love Scouting, they want to share it and they understand their tasks and how
to accomplish them. Me, I just stand back and watch. Oh yeah, and I cook.
Why am I saying this. Cause I is a role model. Me, the cook. Cause I is a
man. The two Assistant Scoumasters are not role models cause they is women.
Gentlemen and Ladies, this is irony.
Yours in Scouting,
G. John Marmet
