A two fold post, first, when I read this statement, I
had to chuckle to myself as I thought, "even the
potentially most dangerous weapon of all is yet more
dangerous in the hands of one who doesn't know how to
use it" much like all of the other "tools" and "toys"
that are currently under scrutiny as "weapons."
Second, a bit of an introduction as I am new to the
list. I am Kevin Mineart, SA of Troop 214 and DL for
Pack 14 in W. Burlington, IA. I was one of the
founding leaders of this Troop which is now 18 months
old. We started with a Webelos Den of 6 and have grown
to around 16. I am currently registered to serve on
Staff at National Jamboree next summer and we hope to
make our first Philmont Trek summer of '03. I am also
planning on participating in Wood Badge training in
the fall of '01 hoping to take a few others with me.
In addition to my involvement with my 2 sons in their
scouting endeavors, I also have also been involved in
little league and basketball teams. While it's a bit
sad, it's also a bit of a relief that my older son
will start playing school sports next year thus giving
back a LITTLE of my free time... well maybe I'll HAVE
a little free time! I've enjoyed it all and am sure
I'll miss that part of it.
I look foreward to being a contributor to this list!
Yours in Scouting
