From: Brooks Gooch (BGOKK@WORLDNET.ATT.NET)
Date: Sun May 28 2000 - 11:09:56 CDT

I am Brooks Gooch, aka; Robinhood (taught archery at Kamp Kia Kima, BSA summer camp 1958 -1961), the nickname still endures. OA - 1957, WB - Bear - SE119, Served scouting as Camping Committee Chair for 2 districts also as Leader Training Committee Chair for 2 districts, Explorer post Associate Advisor and Advisor, Troop committee member and Assistant Scoutmaster. I was to take over as Scoutmaster but just before this was to take effect I was transferred to a different division and shift (Memphis Police Department, now retired)
Kamp Kia Kima was the summer camp for Chickasaw Council, BSA (Memphis, TN) from 1916 thru 1963.
I am Secretary of the Old Kia Kima Preservation Association, a nonprofit corporation, chartered in the state of Arkansas. OKKPA, Inc. is an IRS certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, (EIN #71-0783653).
I am looking for anyone who attended Kamp Kia Kima (1916-1963) at Hardy, AR.
OKKPA is having our annual reunion September 7 thru 10, 2000. If you still have fond memories of those character building days, then do not miss this opportunity to roll back the clock and visit with old friends and make new ones.
OKKPA now owns the old camp grounds and is restoring the stone structures which are located on the property. The purpose of this restoration is to make the site available as a training facility for scouts, scout leaders, and other youth organizations. We have a web site at  www.oldkiakima.org   which is also in the
construction stages. Please check our web site for more detailed information.
In 1964 the Council began using a new site a few miles away, after trading the old camp land for the new larger site. The new site, Kia Kima Scout Reservation, is still the summer camp location for Chickasaw Council, Memphis, TN.
