Troop 48 has an award named after our founding scoutmaster, Clyde J. Surgi
to honor adult leadership to the troop. It is a medal worn around the neck
with our troop emblem. Most recipients have at least 4 years of service and
are chosen by a committee. We went back and presented the award to former
leaders, including a scoutmaster from the 1930's. Before this award, we gave
out the standard appreciation plaques with engraved names. That works nicely
also.
