Welcome to the world of Webelos! I hope you'll find it to be the funnest
thing you've done yet in Cub Scouting. I know I have!

First ....I'd suggest getting one of the (fairly) new Webelos Leader
Handbooks. It will give you most everything you need to effectively lead your
den through Webelos.

Second....as far as scheduling when you do certain activity badges. The way I
went about it, was to complete the Fitness badge first since it's required
for the Webelos badge. Then, I basically looked at the various activity
badges and scheduled them for an appropriate part of the year (Forester in
fall when you can get out in the timber, Craftsman just prior to Christmas so
boys can make some great gifts, Citizen is scheduled for this coming November
at election time, etc., etc...). I also made sure that we alternated from
Outdoor, to Technology, to Physical Skills, etc...so we had some variety.
Just use some common sense.

Third....tap into as many outside resources as you can. I had an Elementary
School Principal take us through the entire Scholar activity badge, a
professional Geologist take us through the Geologist activity badge, etc..

Forth....get as much training as you can! Pow Wow, Outdoor Webelos Training,
Roundtable, etc.! Learn as much as you can about the Webelos to Boy Scout
transition.

Well, I'll get off my soap box now! Sincerely...I hope you enjoy Webelos as
much as I have. My den just became Webelos 2s, and we're on our way to Boy
Scouts!
