Congratulations to the BSA but I suspect there is a bit of numbers game playing
here - the reality is that the 100,000,000 mark was surpassed last year.
Using BSA's own published figures, the total membership as of 2/31/1998 was
99,899,932. Also using the BSA's figures, ever since 1965 the BSA has shown
annual membership gains of more than 1 million.
If the officially published figures are to be believed, that means that in 1999
we registered less than 100,068 new scouts. I don't think so.
