Absolutely!
My son has always gotten terrible, stop-you -in-your-tracks growing
pains in his legs. I wanted him to be able to carry one 500mg. asprin
in a baggie in his pocket. I was told he couln't do that, he would be
suspended. Could the teacher keep the asprin for him? No. Could the
office keep it? No. Could I have him bring in an unopened bottle and
have the office keep it for him? No.
The only thing that could be done would to have a doctors note for a
specific dosage of perscription medicine. Well, not only is that just
ridiculous when it comes to asprin for a leg cramp, we didn't have
insurance at the the time and it would have cost us over $100. for the
office visit and the perscription.
Our choice was to either tell him to break the schools' rules, or
spend a day limping in pain untill he could get home to have his one
asprin. Neither one was a pretty choice.
For that, and many other reasons, we are homeschoolers now.
