No, but a great many of them have been part of a captive audience during
THEIR workday for a PROFESSIONAL SCOUTER's presentation as part of the
CFC/United Way. The majority of us would not give up a day's worth of
vacation or leave to go MAKE such a presentation, and we extrapolate that
others would not do so either: qed, Scouters are paid to do it.

I volunteer one shift a week at a genealogy library; 95% of newbies think
the staff is paid, and that we do research FOR them.

To insiders, it's obvious that we're volunteers; to outsiders, it's
not-obvious. (Any more than it's obvious to EVERYONE who sees her
nurse's cap which School of Nursing graduated my cousin the Director of
Nurses at a local hospital.)

And while we're giving out awards to Scouters who go above and beyond for
10, 15, 20, 30 years or more -- perhaps it wouldn't hurt us to spring an
extra $5 for an award of appreciation for that Scouters' support group
who takes care of routine FAMILY business -- taking the kids to the
doctor, the dentist, doing the teacher conferences, the banking, the
grocery shopping, the car maintenance, the yard work, household repairs
-- so the Scouter has the TIME to go to 4 night meeetings and a weekend
camp-out each week.

IMO.
