I was just informed that "National declared BSA teflon is the only
'legal' lubricant" to use on Pinewood Derby cars. It's too late for our
district this year; most packs have already run and the district event
is only a week away, with rules published two months ago. (The rules
specify either graphite or teflon, with no preference for a particular
brand.)
But did I actually miss something? And if so, where would I have seen or
heard it? I usually read Scouting magazine as soon as it hits the
mailbox. We have a new DE who might have missed it. Finally, if graphite
is no longer allowed, does anyone know why?
