After reading Jason Cruse's response to Don Izard's posting, I have a
question for the group. Do many Troop's work on merit badges at meetings?

In the 7 years I was a Scout and Explorer and the 14 years as an adult
leader, no unit I have been with has ever used meeting time for merit badge
work. I and the other leaders I have served with have always considered
this to be a Scout's individual responsibility. Group instruction and
sign-offs were some I was glad to leave in Cub Scouting as a youth and
never considered as an adult.
