Last year, our council bought 3 trailers to store and transport Day Camp
equipment in. They were the best investment we could have made. As with the
other replies, ours are dual axle trailers, 10' long, 6'wide, 8' high. The
inside was furnished with three shelves along the front and one side, allowing
room for larger items and movement within the trailer on the other side. The
only major problem has been when someone packs stuff only on the shelves, and
does not distribute the load properly. We found that by not having anything be
"loose", most everything stayed put when driving. We bought a few of the large
(100 or 150 gal.) coolers (ice chests?) to put loose items in, and secured
everything with bungie cords. As for security - we found that if we did not
have padlocks on all the doors at all times, equipment walked away. We bought
a five foot long chain with a lock, put it around the tongue and anything that
was secure (tree, pavilion, etc.) to keep the whole trailer from
disappearing. The best word of advice I can give is that whoever is going to
be pulling the trailer should be in charge of and oversee the packing of it.
Also, our is all aluminum (I think...) and gets REALLY hot in the sun, so we
try to park it in the shade must of the time. Hope this helps...
