I think that my message from a few days ago was not
properly conveyed with the words I used. I believe
that
                   information dissemination through electronic means
has
its place. The invention of the newspaper improved
information dissemination and both radio and TV
improved on
that. E-mail, too, is an improvement, WHEN USED
PROPERLY.
This is information BROADCAST. E-mail, calling tree,
newsletters are all good for broadcast. No
interaction is
                   required in BROADCAST.

Meetings should be done in person. To me that's it,
plain
and simple. Boys learn proper interpersonal
communication
skills and behavior in person, not by e-mail. As I
stated
weeks ago, roundtable is the only logical place for
VERBAL announcements. It's the place where immediate
feedback in a group environment takes place.

One of the 8 methods, as I recall, is adult
interaction.
A boy can get that by watching Springer! Everybody on
the
show is over 18. (Whether they act like adults is
another story.) A real meeting with "face time" is
what
separates a PLC meeting from the communication
lessons
learned on Springer. MS Netmeeting and chat rooms are
glorified broadcast. You have no idea who is actually
paying attention, let alone participating. I take
phone
calls all the time while in Netmeetings or remote
demos!

I'll bet most of our boys have no idea what "Roberts
Rules of Order" is. And yet every boy is expected to
attend a local meeting for both Cit. in the Community
and
Communications. These are important lessons we have
a
responsibility to teach. You simply can not do that
in a
