The Philmont Hymn
By John Westfall
Silver on the sage, Starlit skies above,
Aspen covered hills, Country that I love,
Philmont here's to thee, Scouting paradise,
Out in God's country tonight.
Wind in whisp'ring pines, Eagle soaring high,
Purple mountains rise, Against an azure sky,
Philmont here's to thee, Scouting paradise,
Out in God's country tonight.
>From the Boy Scout Songbook

The Philmont experiences of my troop have been extremely positive. This
includes 14 regular crews, a Cavalcade and 3 Autumn Adventures. In three
weeks, we will take part in a Philmont Kanik Adventure.
I highly recommend the Philmont experience to Scouts and adults. To
read more about Philmont, see

As far as the telephone reservation system used to book regular
expeditions, I have been a very vocal critic of the system (as members
of the 'Philmont List' will attest) but I certainly don't question the
"integrity" of the system or the folks at Philmont who administer it.
