Kevin,
Yes we do have a Special account set up to help
off-set the cost of summer camp.....but we extend it
to any Scouting family in need within the Troop!
We keep it simple! The parents contact the
Scoutmaster only!....in private...no questions asked
like "Why?". No name is ever past on...All I have to
do as SM is to advise the committee that I have
(X)number of Scouts that qualify for assistance.
The committee then provides the accounting slip, still
without a name, to be turned in by myself with all the
other cash collected for summer camp!
Typically, only two persons know: The Scoutmaster and
a parent! I never advise the Scout as it sets him up
for feeling poorly about his needs!
In much the same way, I have received money, in
various amounts, sometimes with an unsigned note that
states only: "Thank you for the help when we needed
it...". That money is turned over to the same account
to help the next Scouts! Never a question asked!
While we use the money, the account maintains a good
balance!

Keep Scouting Fun!
Pat Hummert, SM
