A cryptic comment. What exactly are the "consequences of not
earning (the) Eagle" rank ??
I was one of those who did not earn the Eagle rank. And yes, I am
sure I broke my father's heart. But personal consequences to me ??
I don't know what they might be. Sure I have heard others talk of doors
opened, increased self esteem, yadda, yadda, yaddah (not intending
any disrespect with that :-) ). But nothing personal that I know harmed
me. Or lessened the opportunities available to me. And yes I loved
my scouting days. Up to the time I learned of girls, gasoline and money.

Now that is a sentiment that I can agree with !! Certainly I would push my
son but not to the point of a "not...good end product". And certainly I
will
encourage other Scouters to encourage him also. Just in case he is into
not listening to Mom and Dad. ( Like me ohh so many years ago... :-| )
( I can think of several adult leaders that I wished would have
'encouraged'
me a little 'harder' to finish !! )
