Sorry, Jim, but I have to disagree. I've been, and continue to be,
involved with units chartered to different religious organizations and I do
not expect any one one of them to make adjustments in their religious
pracitces to accomodate non-members.
Scout Week offers a couple of perfectly good examples that we don't have
to bend over backwards for the next guy. My family is Christian, my son's
Den Chief (several years ago) was a Moslem, and we all ended up in a troop
sponsored by the Jewish Community Center. I'd never been inside a Jewish
temple before; they welcomed us for Scout Shabat, but they made no changes in
their service because there were gentiles present. And this past Sunday I
was at a Catholic Mass with another troop where the Hospitality Chair is a
Moslem; Mass was not changed one bit, and the comraderie afterward, over
coffee and donuts prsided over by the HC, was wonderful. Should I also
mention that the troop's own UC was also there, and he's Presbyterian.
   But that's just my $.02.
