Hmmm
I find it interesting that we would even discuss this considering the the
oath:
It says "to do my duty to God and my country".
Not to some high being - not to the lord of the forest - not the mighty
chief in the sky. It says, plain and simple, to God and my country.
Seems to me we can either live by the words we expect the young men to not
only recite but live by. To do otherwise makes the words only words.
Am I missing something here?
