The following post recently appeared in the excellent America Online Scouting
Forum. With the permission of its author, I am repeating it here.
<<Shortly after I came "off the hill" back in '89 we had a "reunion" for the
Wood Badge Scouters (on ticket and beaded) with a guest speaker who had known
BP personally. One of the things he spoke about was when someone had
mentioned "Traditional Scouting" to BP. BP himself had pointed out that
while it was well and good that Scouting have its traditions, that the
purpose of scouting was to help young people face the
future and its inevitable change, and therefor that "Traditional Scouting"
would always be about future changes.>>
As we consider changes in Wood Badge and in other parts of Scouting, this
seems extraordinarily relevant.
Best wishes,
Neil Lupton
