True: 1) so long as they are married (I believe this was stated in the
original posting) & 2) "Married couples may share the same quarters if
appropriate facilities are available" (from the Guide to Safe Scouting).
This last phrase generally gets short shrift, since, among other things, no
place is it defined what "appropriate facilities" are. This does not mean,
for example, that a tent cannot be placed with boys' tents. It is purposely
ambiguous.
As it is ambiguous, I would strongly urge that the correct interpretation is
that "appropriate facilities" is defined by your Sponsoring Organization.
Consult with them before married couples go camping, either on a Scout
Reservation or on a weekend campout.
