Stephen, et al.
You have hit it right on the head! I have said it once and I'll say it
again: What exactly is "American Made" besides a slogan, anymore.
Clothing made in a US duty free zone in Tapei is labeled "Made in the
USA"!!
I am looking for a new mini-van. At the Dodge dealer it says the car was
assembled in Canada, with an engine made in Mexico and listing that it
is a domestic model because it contains over 25% US made parts. 25%!!!
You're down state from me. It's Honda country down there. (Largest
Japanese car plant in the world is in Ohio) Cars are assembled and
shipped back to Japan from that plant. An Accord manufactured by Ohioans
in OHIO is a "foreign" car to the many people. The Dodge is made by
Chrysler. Chrysler is a division of Daimler, which is a German company.
As such, the Dodge Caravan is actually a "foreign" car, if the Honda
is!!
The National Supply people buying uniforms really need to stop this
nonsense. It's like wearing a sign that says "I'm willing to pay
anything!"
The Canadian catalog shows the same shirt and pants (BLUE PANTS:
AVAILABLE ANYWHERE) and a shirt (the same color as ours) for almost
everybody. No green shirt and gray pants nonsense, either. Similar pants
can be sourced at any Sears or WalMart store for half of a pair of Scout
pants. I know, I've bought two sets of blue school pants already for my
son, since August. (He grew out of one set in November.) I'm glad I
didn't waste money on Scout pants he would have worn at a COH in
November. That's all folks, ONCE. He certainly doesn't wear them on
campouts in the mud.
I'm not anti-uniform. I'm anti expensive,limited-use uniform.
