Might I suggest Scoutmaster Fundamentals as a good place to start, coupled with some gentle "interference running" to keep the adult occupied/out of the way so that the youth Troop Guide and Patrol Leader can do
their jobs.

The job description for all of the adult leader positions is in the Scoutmaster's Handbook (sometimes you really have to look hard though). The Assistant Scoutmaster for the New Scout Patrol - I'm presuming that
this is the postion the former Webelos leader would assume - is to work with the Troop Guide to make sure that the new Scouts are given opportunities to succeed. It is not to be the Patrol Leader, that is a
boy's job.

It's sometimes tough to get a new leader, especially those coming up from Cub Scouts, to "standby and observe and assist as requested" but that is really the role of the adult leaders

Good luck and I hope this helps,

YiS
