Date: Wed Jan 19 2000 - 11:03:26 CST
in response to the original posting (what to do with scouts who consumed
alcohol on a scout activity)
one reply included the suggestion of a "service" project as part of the
punishment.
I for one do not concur (except when the "service" is to right a wrong
(e.g., the "crime" was intentional damage), has a reasonably direct
relationship to the "crime" and is truly rehabilitative in nature) .
in scouting, service projects should be treated in a positive light, to be
done voluntarily, and not punitively.
