This was the dilemma where I needed advice. Thanks to everyone for your
responses and help. Our Troop sees at least four Eagle COH coming this year and
even though we have had Eagles, we are coming of age and Eagle traditions are
something we are still learning.Wood badge taught me that you can easily step on
toes, so I came to you and asked. You guys sent a range of answers, but all put
the Scout first which warmed my heart. The SPL in our Troop traditionally gives
the Scouts their advancement patch immediately after their BOR. However the
Eagle has it's own traditions. We knew what we wanted to do, but wanted to hear
from you. The Scout and his family decided to wait until April, but the SPL
presented his patch at the Troop meeting this week. I wish all problems were
like this one.

On a personal side note, the Scout heard I was waiting for an opportunity to get
beaded at a time where the Scouts would share the honor. I just haven't figured
out how to do that without me standing above their Troop yet. This Eagle Scout
invited me to get beaded at his ceremony. I turned that down but the irony
didn't escape me. I don't mean to brag, but we have great Scouts and I have so
much to learn from them.
