I am developing a set of operating policies to give to our Pack leaders
and adult patners. Topics include several items covered in the "Guide To
Safe Scouting" and several local concerns. In preparing for our fall
family camping trip our camping activities chief raised a question about
the use of electronic entertainment devices. I have drafted the
following.

Electronic Entertainment Devices
- The use of electroninc entertainment devices such as TV’s, tape
players, electronic games, and CD players is not permitted at Pack and
den meetings and outings. This also applies to Council and District
sponsored events. The use of personal communication devices such
cellular phones, radios, and pagers will be governed by the activity
guidelines for the Council or District activity.
-The use of these devices is discouraged at Pack family camping
activities. However, in the spirit of a recreational family activity
these devices will be permitted as long their use is confined to the
personal sleeping area of the family. Also, the sound and light from
these devices should not intrude on the peace and enjoyment of other
members of the Pack.
-The use of generators during family camping events is prohibited unless
the use is associated with the well being of members of the Pack family.

I'd really appreciate learning if any other unit has such a policy. I'd
welcome any other feedback and comments based on others' experiences.
