Thank you for your comments on your experiences with Alpha Phi Omega.
Pledging does require a certain amount of time and certain majors don't
give you that time.
There are some things in the pledging process that being an Eagle Scout
would give you prior knowledge such as the Scout Oath and Law and planning
a service project. OTOH there are many more things ranging from Chapter
History to National Bylaws and from Chapter Officers to service projects
where an equal amount of time would be needed from an Eagle Scout and a
person who has had no contact with scouting.
While as a Fraternity we are founded on principles derived from the scout
oath and law, Service to scouting is only one aspect of the community
service that a chapter does.
At one time (From its founding in 1925 to 1967) Alpha Phi Omega did
require prior scouting membership to belong to Alpha Phi Omega, but we
found there were many men who had not had the opportunity to participate
in scouting while a youth who were willing to support those principles as
part of Alpha Phi Omega.
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with Campus Crusade, is it religiously
based?
