True. But the Blue and Gold Banquet didn't start out as a celebration of
the BSA's birthday; it started out as a special event unique for the Pack to
thank Cubbers for another year of providing Scouting...later, like in the
50s, the connection between the time of year and the event took hold and all
Packs held the celebration.

According to the BSA, the first Cub Scout Packs were organized in August of
1929.
But do you know what? There is NOTHING in the BSA's Cub Scouting booklets
or manuals up to 1958 that even SAYS anything about a Blue and Gold Dinner
or Banquet!! The first mention that I can find anywhere is from the BSA
Encyclopedia in 1958 (which I posted earlier) and there is very little else
mentioned in other places (and I've exhausted all of the older sources with
the earlier posting).

SO....I'll be looking up "Blue and Gold" (other than the colors) this
afternoon and seeing what I can dig up. Give me a week or so to find out
what I can find!

Settummanque!
