Re: Attendance Rewards

In the past, my den has had "sticks" (12 inch pieces of dowel rods) with a
leather thong tied to them. For each meeting, they received a pony bead for
attending, a bead for bringing their book and a bead for wearing their
uniform.

I found a basket at a craft show that is made from tree bark. The sticks
were carried back and forth in the basket. When everyone came in and
claimed their stick, I took the others out of the basket and dropped them in
my canvas tote. At the end of the meeting, all the boys "put their sticks
away" in the basket. Then when I got home, I had a quick and accurate
record of attendance.

The others in the pack liked the idea well enough that the pack made simple
leather fobs for the boys to wear on their pockets and got a special bead
for attending pack meetings.

Another scoutleader/friend of mine started a grab bag of toys from the
Dollar Tree (Everything Costs $1) and gives those out for boys in uniforms.

Yet another scoutleader/friend went to the local Putt-Putt Golf and Arcade
and bought game tokens and awards those.
