A Moment of Silence Please

This evening as I was on my way to our district committee meeting I learned
of a rather sad incident at our local camp. The maintenance facility that
serves the entire reservation and includes storage for 90% of the camp
equipment (including tents, vehicles, tools, and program equipment) has
burnt to the ground. There is no word on the cause of the fire, but I'm
happy to report that no one on the maintenance staff was injured. The local
news just ran the story with pictures and it's clear the building is
completely gone.
The good news, aside from the fact that no one was hurt, is that the fire
didn't spread to the nearby woods or threaten the rest of the reservation or
the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. While this is the worst fire at Manatoc
Scout Reservation since 1958, it could have been much worse. I guess the
decision on whether or not to have a capital campaign next year has been
made for us.
