Camp Naish is run by the Heart of Ameria Council out of Kansas City. It is
located just east of Bonner Springs Kansas between interstate 70 and KS
Hiway 32. The Camp is situated on high bluffs overlooking the Kansas River
to the south. Most of the camp is covered in hard wood forests with
campsites located around the main camp infrastructure in the center of the
camp area. The northern half has been allowed to go natural but has a ten
mile hiking trail called the Rim Rock Trail. There is a South Camp area
that is used for training, special camps, and unit camping. Rights to use a
private lake on the eastern edge were recently obtained for waterfront
activity. For Cub Scouts, there is a major Cub Scout World program area on
the north edge of the main camp
Naish is operated as a weeklong summer camp with about five sessions. Other
weeks are filled with Webelos residence camps. Many of the districts use
Naish for camporees and Klondikes, etc.
Heart of America Council also has Camp Bartle in Central Missouri which is
much larger and runs nine days per session. Naish is used by troops that
often cannot provide the leadership to cover the longer sessions. Naish
however is a wonderful facility with a good program and a strong OA
tradition. Contact the Council office for more info.
