Hey Steve,
That was a fun note.
Once upon a time the TCU guys were supposed to put in an
abbreviations
list into the Welcome file. Don't think it happened even though a few
Scouts-Lrs tried to use my list that I put out a few times that was
updated with many other neat inputs in a long running Scouts-L tread
that included some neat World Wide Scouting stuff. By the Way (BTW)
acronyms is not the proper term for this funny stuff. <VBEG> Hey
I just learned that one from Professor Bowman.
VA-MikeB (VA=Virginia the State) gave a pretty good list yet there
is some argument (local we think) over some of his abbreviations
listed.
To add only a few
SO Scout Oath
SL Scout Law
SM Scout Motto
SS Scout Slogan
YiS Yours in Scouting
HAND Have A Nice Day (Jim Sheckles I believe uses this one and it
(took me months to figure it out. I thought he was a braggart
(and I was supposed to give him a HAND)
YiWWSWd (Believe this means Yours in World Wide Scouting With
(Disabilities. Jay Thal uses this one yet I never asked)
USSSP (United States Scouting Service Project)
(You will see this on Paul the Wolf, Bowman and ??
xx-ww-cc (Funny junk at the bottom, Usually a Wood Badge designator
CE Council Executive (No Lie Mike some Councils do not call their
Scout Executives a SE and it is on their letterhead.
YiS, IMHO, and may we each attempt to live the SO,SL,SS,SM
Mr Dave (Hawleyton, NY (Baden-Powell Council
P.S. Dave is an acronym for David or is it a nick name or what??
and Mr is an abbreviation for Mister <Hee Hee Hee Ho Ho
