Greetings from Sunny (Hot!) Southern California!

Good morning fellow Scouters! I'm a new subscriber to this list, and I'm
doing my new-subscriber duty by sending out a brief introduction. Which, I
guess, makes this part the Foreword? Anyhow...
My name is Sean Scott, an I'm a 33 year old Cubmaster and Webelos Den
Leader for Cub Scout Pack 307 in Murrieta, California, part of the Tahquitz
district of the California Inland Empire Council. We're in the desert about
halfway 'tween LA and San Diego (so we cheer for the Angels) and our community
is still fairly rural. I'm a stepfather (son-9, daughter-10) and a father
(daughter-2 in three weeks) and a husband (wife-I'd better not say how old).
I'm also a DBA for the Navy (DBA-Database Administrator, I don't know what the
'B' stands for...) where I mostly surf the net, er, I mean, uh, do important
stuff to protect the national security of this great land. Hey, the internet
stuff is just a ruse that the Naval Intel people gave us so we wouldn't have to
say "I could tell you but then I'd have to give you a wedgie." Really!
OK, so you may have figured out that I'm a goof, but you end up that way
from dealing with 7-11 year old boys and their parents. Or you go crazy.
Seriously, though, I can be serious. See? Just not for long, no more than "an
hour a week"!
I've been accused of playing Devil's Advocate on occasion, so if I join in
a spirited discussion and lend an alternative viewpoint, it's not personal and
may not be my own thought on the matter. I'm a firm believer that if you're not
having fun, you're taking life waaaaay too seriously, and that my family comes
first before everything else in this world.
What am I looking for out of this list? Um, more mail than I already get
from my three other listserver subscriptions? As if 400-500 a day isn't
enough... Well, I like to keep my network admin earning his keep! Really, I
like to see what other Packs, CM's, and WDL's are doing, the types of programs
they're running, neat ideas for projects (our Blue and Gold is a medieval theme
this year and I enjoyed the discussions in the August log on pirate and Robin
Hood hats). Not to mention some brothers in arms fighting the good fight of
making decent men out of the young boys entrusted to us.
In order to look like I'm contributing, I share my Cubmaster wisdom:
"Resign yourself to making a complete and utter fool of yourself at all Pack
events". Oh, and read the two Michael Gurian books "A Fine Young Man" and "The
Wonder of Boys".
I'm also the webmaster for our little Pack, so I'm obliged to insist that

and I collect CSP's, I'm also obliged to tell you that we collect CSP's, since
he asks EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN A SCOUT UNIFORM if they would like to trade
patches. I thought our last Roundtable would never get underway...
