James,
How about getting someone to come to a troop meeting and show slides
of a Philmont expedition or other backpacking trip?
There are some great hiking/backpacking adventures in Tennessee, and
especially in Virginia at the Blue Ridge Mountains Scout Reservation's
High Knoll program. See: http://www.bsa-brmc.org/
In a day or two, our web page should have a slide show from our June
Philmont expedition. See http://www.troop405.org/camps/index.html
Or how about a Philmont Kanik (cold weather) adventure. I bet this
is something that would interest your guys. We're doing one of these
during Spring Break next year.
