Jay's take on this matter-
"The BSA would be better served being neutral on the
policy of whether
gays (or anyone else for that matter) can be involved
in Scouting. It
is and always will be the policy and prerogative of
the individualunits
and their chartered organizations to determine the
fitness of any
particular individual to be a scout leader."
is right on. Face it folks, it's a changing world. And
there's no guarentees that we'll all like th e
changes. Gays in Scouting will most likely happen in
our lifetimes.
But, it won't be BSA saying that you have to allow
gays; they'll only be saying you can. If your CO is
fine with that, or if it isn't, the unit will reflect
that.
I think that anyone is better off if they live by the
SO & SL. And society is better off with more
Scout-like citizens, be they gay, stright, or
whatever.
Just my humble little opinion coming from my own dark
little corner of the universe. :-)
