Court Rules Boy Scouts Can't Ban Gays
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey's highest court ruled today that the Boy
Scouts of America's ban on homosexuals is illegal under the state's
anti-discrimination law. The Boy Scouts fought numerous court challenges to
its exclusion policies. The New Jersey Supreme Court decision is a victory
for James Dale, an assistant scoutmaster who was kicked out of the Boy Scouts
nine years ago when leaders found out he is gay.
