Service hours

For your consideration...
1. Should hours spent at a den chief count as community service hours?
Rationale? At some juncture the Scouting program, along with the
Boys, will benefit from our volunteered time and commitment we placed into
the program.
2. Should hours spent assisting another troop with a fundraiser (with no
monetary benefit to you) be counted as service hours?
I was given the following rationale...
In essence, the troop supports the community, being tied directly to it.
When lending aid to a fundraiser, you are perpetuating the troop, thus
aiding the community. If the troop was not there, because funding was not
there, the community would be impacted by the losses tied not only to
direct service projects, but by the absence and deficit of the physical
troop.
What does the wisdom of the list think?
