A Great Moment

All this talk of young vs. old Eagles has led me
to post a personal observation.

As I wrote earlier, my son doesn't feel qualified
to be a young Eagle. That is his choice.

His best friend also had the same opinon until
recently. His family is moving out of state
and Charles wanted to earn his Eagle from
our troop. He worked extremely hard to
meet his goal of passing requirements/
Eagle Project and EOR prior to moving
in July. No...the troop didn't cut
him any slack in requirments and his
project.

I have been Charles' den leader/Cubmaster
thru his Cub Scout days. I was honored
to sit on his Eagle Board of Review.

Few Cubmaster/den leaders get to see the
fruits of their work by seeing a young
man complete his Eagle that they worked
with.

It was a special occasion and one I'm
grateful for. I consider it an honor
to sit on ANY Eagle BOR, but this one
meant alot.

This is why we do it. To see the boys
succeed, whatever that success turns out
to be. It may not be Eagle, but they're
all important.

yis,
Kim Moye
