Eagle Scouts

Don't worry about their age when it comes to Eagles. My kid was just barely 14 when he earned his Eagle, but had earned over
60 merit badges and now has 6 Palms. He worked at both Cub day camp and Webelos camp for 3 years before working as a life
guard at last years Council summer camp. As a Cub, he earned his Arrow of Light. He is also COPE certified. He was elected to
the OA at 12 and took his brotherhood test the next year and last Friday night (at 16 years of age) was awarded the Vigil Honor.
He will be 17 on August 4th when he starts his Junior year at high school. He plays on the Varsity football team, JV basketball
team, Varsity track (where he has won the distrct in the Discuss throw for the last 2 years), and sings on the Varsity choir while
staying all A's and B's on his report card. In his spare time he works as a life guard at a few pools, plays on an AAU basketball
team, and works for a contractor building high priced luxury homes. He goes to church almost every Sunday and stays for the
youth activities that evening. He's already had several colleges looking at him.
So when people ask me about a scout receiving (earning) his Eagle at an early age, I have to look at the scout in question and
not just lump them all together to make my decision. Some do earn it early and some earn it just as they turn 18 (which I dislike), but
they all earn it and we should be proud of that fact and not worry about the age at which they earn their Eagle.
