Our family has 3 Thermarests and 2 Camprests, having had foam pads and those
ridged grey pads. We have had one problem with a valve on the 10-year-old
Thermarest and had the company replace the valve free-of-charge. No
problems on the other pads which are between 1 and 5 years old. Last year I
also decided that I needed a new pad and sleeping bag, so bought the
2-1/2-inch Camprest and a down bag. The overall weight is 1 lb. less than
the old Thermarest/Slumberjack combination, which is important when I'm
backpacking. And I sleep better because I'm warmer and my feet and head
don't hang over the pad. ALMOST as nice as my heated waterbed at home. I'd
suggest buying the thickest possible pad that still answers your uses, and
one long enough to accommodate your full length.
