So very true. As the original post noted, there may be a structural
problem here: I think it is not a good idea for a Unit Commissioner
to be a member of the adult leadership of the troop being commish'ed.
There is such a thing as being too close to the situation, or too
aware of other, tangential issues within the charter organization, or
whatever.

The necessary degree of detachment is lacking to see a problem and
call attention to it, without having to be concerned with fallout in
some other setting that involves the same personalities.
